Today is Girls’ Festival in Japan. But it’s not as special as Children’s Day, which is considered the boys’ festival. That’s because Girls’ Day isn’t a national holiday.
I’m working as usual today, and my cat daughter is taking a nap as always.
Even so, it would be great to learn about the history of Hinamatsuri since it must have deep traditional meaning. It originally began as a custom in the Heian era, where people floated dolls made of paper or plants to ward off evil spirits. Over time, it evolved into a day for wishing for girls’ healthy growth.
It’s a shame that I don’t have enough time to immerse myself in such cultural traditions, even though I live in Japan.
